Every once in awhile, people ask about qualifications for digital marketing. Unfortunately, marketing degree programs at 2- and 4-year higher education institutions are woefully behind the times when it comes to teaching digital strategies. Most digital marketers learn on the job. This makes it difficult to get an edge when you’re looking for a job fresh out of school or changing careers. But there are tools for learning online. And many of them are completely free.
Google provides training and certifications in Analytics and Ads. There are introductory and advanced certifications, and achieving these will get you a long way toward a job in digital marketing. Of course, that’s not all there is to it (it never is), but it’s a start.
