Are you ready to start pulling in the likes and comments on all of your photos, not just the ones of your dog or baby? Then it’s time to follow our guide to begin using Instagram like the pro we know you really are! Follow our steps, and you’ll be reeling in the likes in no time!
Check out the Competition
What are your competitors doing? Giving their Instagram page a quick peek will very quickly give you an idea of what works and what doesn’t.
Post Engaging Content Consistently
Sure, this one might seem like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised at the amount of people who post once every three months or only choose to post images irrelevant to their business or field. A picture really is worth a thousand words in Instagram’s case. The image needs to do all (or most of) the talking. The better the image, the more people will see it. Choose your business niche or passion, and post about that consistently. Your audience is out there, and they like to see people following their passions.
Use Hashtags
You know those awesome photos you’re posting? Make sure people are actually seeing them by making proper use of hashtags. People can use keywords to search for photos tagged with the same keywords. Pictures are linked to keywords using hashtags. It’s a great way to promote your photos. Do your research to see which hashtags are popular and showing up in search results, and make them relevant to the photo and your target audience. Studies show that using at least one hashtag will increase the amount of people who see your photo. You may also want to consistently hashtag the name of your business or brand.

Make your Account Public
If your account is set to private, you need to change that immediately. If your account is set on private, it won’t show up in search results when someone is searching for photos on the app. If you’re super worried about privacy or who follows your page, you can enable account follow requests so that you have to approve every follow request that filters in.
Post Stories Every Day
Simply stated, the more you share, the more popular you will be. So start posting to your stories, folks. And while you’re at it, start posting videos, too. It’s a great way to engage with your audience.
Plan Ahead
It might seem like a daunting task to plan out your posts weeks in advance, but believe us, it is going to make things go a lot more smoothly for you. You might say you want to post every single day, and you can, but it isn’t always easy to come up with a creative post on the fly, and chances are you’ll get tired of it very quickly and stop altogether.
Link in Bio
Add a link to your website or latest blog in your bio. Links aren’t clickable when they’re placed in Instagram captions.
And remember, #EngageWithYourAudience! If you aren’t engaging with your audience by following them back, liking their photos too, and responding to their comments, you’ll lose those followers as quickly as you gained them.
