Television commercials gained popularity in the 1960s and have been a popular way to advertise services and new products ever since. And now that we have social media platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, TikTok, and Instagram, video has become more popular than ever. It’s everywhere! If you want to reach your customers you need to be sharing the kind of content they’re viewing every day, on the platforms they’re visiting every day.
The Statistics
Statistics show that videos are a much more effective marketing tool when compared to print or direct mail. Your audience is much more likely to watch a catchy video than they are to check out the details on your mailer. (While mailers are still an effective way to target your audience, you can make them even more impactful by placing a QR code on them that directs your audience to a video.) A whopping 75 million Americans watch videos online every single day. Half of those videos are watched on a mobile device. Even mentioning the word “video” in an email blast can increase the click-through rate!
Are you convinced that it’s time to start utilizing video marketing yet?
The Versatility of Video
The great thing about video marketing is that it is incredibly versatile. If your audience is on TikTok, make short, quippy videos to get people interested in your expertise or your product. If you’re working with an older crowd and they’re interested in information about your business, try a longer, informative video about your business or products. An explainer video, like one that shows how a machine works, might be the best route for you. Why? Instead of telling your customer about your product, you’re showing them your product. This helps build trust.
Boost your Sales
If you want to make your website more dynamic, consider adding video testimonials from your best customers or explainer videos. Product videos can increase your conversions and boost your sales. Whether or not you’re paying a team to film for you or you’re doing it on your iPhone, you’ll see a great return on investment. And Google loves video. You’re more likely to rank better on Google if you have videos embedded in your website. Just make sure your videos are optimized with keywords, meta-data, and captivating, yet accessible titles; Google wants to know what your videos are about. Just make sure your website is mobile-friendly!
